Matthew Lopez
PROJECT MANAGER
Matthew Lopez is the Project Manager at the Harlem Gallery of Science, where he plays a central role in bringing interactive, game-based learning experiences directly to students and communities. Since joining the organization in 2022, he has contributed to shaping the Gallery's outreach efforts, particularly through the coordination and execution of the Gaming Expo. Additionally, he served as the director of a mentoring program for middle and high school students, further demonstrating his commitment to youth development and educational guidance.
Lopez's connection to the Harlem Gallery began during his time at the City College of New York, where he served as president of the eSports Club. Through this partnership, he became a strong advocate for the academic and professional value of gaming, helping to highlight its importance as both a creative outlet and a viable career path for students.
As Project Manager, Lopez oversees the logistics, planning, and implementation of the Gaming Expo across schools and community spaces. His favorite part of his job is witnessing the moment when students and teachers connect over video games, seeing games become a bridge that sparks conversations and reshapes perceptions of what learning can look like.
